Jim Palmer

Jim Palmer, born James Alvin Palmer on October 15, 1945, is a former American professional baseball pitcher. He played 19 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Baltimore Orioles from 1965 to 1967 and 1969 to 1984. Known for his success in the 1970s, Palmer won 186 games, making him the winningest MLB pitcher of the decade. He achieved at least 20 wins in eight different seasons and received three Cy Young Awards and four Gold Gloves during this time. Palmer holds the record for the most victories in Orioles history with 268 wins. He was a six-time American League All-Star and never allowed a grand slam in any MLB game. Palmer was a key player in three World Series Championship teams, six AL pennant-winning teams, and seven Eastern Division title-winning teams. He is the only pitcher to have earned a win in a World Series game in three different decades and holds the record as the youngest pitcher to throw a complete-game shutout in a World Series, accomplishing this feat just nine days before his 21st birthday in 1966.
