Jimmy Cross Biography
Jimmy Cross (November 17, 1938 – October 8, 1978) was an American radio producer and singer. Born in Dothan, Alabama, Cross achieved minor success in 1965 with his novelty song 'I Want My Baby Back,' which reached #92 on the Billboard Hot 100. He served as the producer of the syndicated radio series Country Concert. Known for its parody of teenage tragedy songs of the time, 'I Want My Baby Back' has since become a cult classic, receiving frequent airplay on the Dr. Demento show. Cross narrates a traffic crash, drawing inspiration from 'Last Kiss' by J. Frank Wilson and 'Leader of the Pack' by The Shangri-Las.
