Jimmy Demaret
James Newton Demaret (May 24, 1910 – December 28, 1983) was an American professional golfer. Born in Houston, Texas, Demaret won 31 PGA Tour events between 1935 and 1957. He was the first three-time winner of the Masters, winning in 1940, 1947, and 1950. Demaret reached his peak in the late 1940s, with victories in the Masters and being the leading money winner and Vardon Trophy winner in 1947. He played on three Ryder Cup teams and reached the semifinals of the PGA Championship four times. Despite his career decline in the 1950s, he managed to win the 1952 Bing Crosby Pro-Am and the Canada Cup with Sam Snead in 1957. Demaret's playing style was developed through experience and he remains a notable figure in the history of American golf.
