Joan Almedilla

Joan Almedilla (born September 19, 1973) is a Filipino film and theater actress, composer, and singer. She is known for her portrayal of Kim in the Broadway musical Miss Saigon. Almedilla began competing in vocal talent contests in the Philippines as a child and pursued a college education in the United States, where she studied voice. Her notable roles include Fantine in the Third National Tour of Les Misérables and Soul Girl in the Broadway National Tour of Jesus Christ Superstar. Almedilla is recognized as the first Filipino to play the role of Fantine. She has also appeared in Songs for a New World at the Rubicon Theater.
