Joe Farrell (December 16, 1937 – January 10, 1986) was an American jazz multi-instrumentalist, best known for his work as a saxophonist and flutist. Born in Chicago Heights, Illinois, Farrell began playing the flute and clarinet as a child. After graduating from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, he moved to New York City to work as a freelance musician. Farrell played with notable jazz artists such as Maynard Ferguson, Charles Mingus, and Elvin Jones. He gained recognition for his series of albums on the CTI record label and for being part of Chick Corea's Return to Forever. Farrell's talent and contributions to jazz continue to be celebrated in the music industry.
