    Joe McClain, born Joseph Fred McClain on May 5, 1933, is a retired American Major League Baseball pitcher. He played for the Washington Senators from 1961 to 1962 and had the honor of securing the first victory in the history of the expansion franchise, now known as the Texas Rangers. Standing at 6 feet tall and weighing 183 pounds, McClain began his baseball career after attending the University of Tennessee. He signed with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1953 and went on to play in the minor league systems of the Cardinals, New York Yankees, and original Senators. McClain was drafted by the expansion Senators in the minor league phase of the 1960 expansion draft. In his MLB debut, he pitched a complete game, seven-hit victory over the Cleveland Indians on April 14, 1961, marking the team's first regular-season win. Throughout the 1961 season, McClain served as a starting pitcher for the Senators.
