Joe Theismann Biography
Joseph Robert Theismann (born September 9, 1949) is an American former professional football player, sports commentator, corporate speaker, and restaurateur. He gained recognition as a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL). Theismann played 12 seasons with the Washington Redskins, earning two Pro Bowl selections and helping the team reach consecutive Super Bowl appearances. He won Super Bowl XVII and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2003 for his contributions to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Unfortunately, his career ended abruptly in 1985 due to a severe leg fracture suffered during a game. Following his retirement, Theismann worked as a sportscaster and analyst for ESPN, primarily partnering with Mike Patrick on Sunday Night Football broadcasts.
