Joey Adams
Joey Adams (born Joseph Abramowitz; January 6, 1911 – December 2, 1999) was an American comedian, vaudevillian, radio host, nightclub performer, and author. He grew up in Brownsville, Brooklyn, and attended local public school, junior high school, and high school. Adams later attended City College but did not graduate. He changed his name to Joey Adams in 1930. In 1952, he married his second wife, Cindy Adams, who was a society/gossip columnist. For many years, Joey wrote the Strictly for Laughs column in the New York Post. He was inducted into the New York Friars' Club in 1977 and wrote the book Borscht Belt in 1973.
