John Crow Biography
John William Crow, born on January 22, 1937, is a notable figure in the field of finance and banking. He served as the fifth Governor of the Bank of Canada from 1987 to 1994, succeeding Gerald Bouey and being succeeded by Gordon Thiessen. Born in London, England, Crow received a degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Oxford in 1961. He spent several years at the International Monetary Fund and joined the Bank of Canada in 1973, eventually becoming Deputy Governor in 1981. Crow has also held positions as a director of Placer Dome and as the president of J&R Crow Inc. In recognition of his contributions to Canada's monetary policy, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2009.
