John Dean
John Wesley Dean III (born October 14, 1938) is an American attorney and former White House Counsel for U.S. President Richard Nixon from July 1970 until April 1973. He gained notoriety for his involvement in the cover-up of the Watergate scandal and subsequent testimony to Congress. Dean's guilty plea in exchange for becoming a key witness led to a reduced sentence and subsequent disbarment. Following the hearings, he wrote books, lectured, and became a commentator on politics. Dean transitioned from a proponent of Goldwater conservatism to a critic of the Republican Party, particularly Presidents George W. Bush and Donald Trump.
