John Doolittle Biography
John Taylor Doolittle (born October 30, 1950) is an attorney and former American politician. He served as a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from 1991 to 2009, representing California's 4th congressional district. Prior to his time in Congress, Doolittle served in the California State Senate from 1984 to 1991. During his tenure in the House, he held a leadership role as the Deputy Whip for the Republican party. In the 2008 election, Doolittle faced difficulties in fundraising and lost support from previous allies, leading him to announce that he would not run again. He had been criticized for improprieties in his political fundraising, including using his wife's one-person firm for fundraising purposes.
