John Hartman
John Hartman (March 18, 1950 – December 29, 2021) was an American drummer and co-founder of the Doobie Brothers. He played as the band's original drummer from their formation in 1970 until his departure in 1979. Hartman contributed to all of the Doobie Brothers' major hits of the 1970s, playing alongside both Tom Johnston and Michael McDonald. After leaving the band, he focused on caring for Arabian horses on his California ranch. Hartman briefly reunited with the Doobie Brothers in 1987 for a benefit tour, joining other former members. Throughout his career, John Hartman made significant contributions to the success and sound of the Doobie Brothers as a skilled drummer.
