John Lansing

John Ten Eyck Lansing Jr. (January 30, 1754 – vanished December 12, 1829) was a Founding Father of the United States and a prominent attorney, jurist, and politician. Born and raised in Albany, New York, Lansing had a successful career in law and was actively involved in politics and government. He served as military secretary to General Philip Schuyler during the American Revolution and later held various positions, including serving in the New York State Assembly, as Speaker of the Assembly, a member of the Congress of the Confederation, and as mayor of Albany. Lansing also participated in the federal Constitutional Convention of 1787 and the New York ratification convention in 1788.
