John Michael Phillips (born February 4, 1975) is an American lawyer, consumer and civil rights advocate, and legal commentator. He is licensed to practice law in Florida, New York, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, Illinois, and Washington, DC. Phillips has served as lead counsel in numerous nationally reported cases and has achieved successful outcomes for his clients. He notably represented Lucy McBath and Ron Davis in the aftermath of the shooting of Jordan Davis in Jacksonville, Florida. Phillips also served as lead counsel for Omarosa Manigault Newman in litigation brought against her by Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. Additionally, he is currently the lead counsel for Joseph Maldonado-Passage, popularly known as Joe Exotic, and has appeared in various episodes of the Netflix show Tiger King.
