John Varvatos
John Varvatos (born 1954) is an American menswear designer. He was born in Detroit and grew up in Allen Park, Michigan. Varvatos attended Allen Park High School and later studied at Eastern Michigan University and the University of Michigan. In 1980, he co-founded Fitzgerald's Men's Store in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Varvatos joined Polo Ralph Lauren in 1983 and later moved to Calvin Klein in 1990, where he served as the head of menswear design. During his time at Calvin Klein, Varvatos introduced boxer briefs, a popular men's undergarment. His designs have been influential in the fashion industry and he continues to be a prominent figure in menswear design.
