Johnny Cuthbert

Johnny Cuthbert (9 July 1904 – 29 August 1987) was a British boxer who held the British featherweight champion title from 1927 to 1928 and again from 1929 to 1931. He also won the Lonsdale Belt outright and was the British lightweight champion from 1932 to 1934. Born in Sheffield, Cuthbert learned boxing from Ben Stanton after attending Reverend Harold Ewbank's Sunday School. He made his professional debut in February 1920 and had a successful career, defeating notable opponents such as Elky Clark, Harry Corbett, and Billy Hindley. Cuthbert also had fights in the United States before returning to England. He passed away on 29 August 1987.
