    John Michael Hardwick (December 31, 1958 – August 8, 2023) was an American voice actor, comedian, writer, producer, and YouTuber. Born in Austin, Texas, he attended Texas Tech University and graduated with a BA degree in journalism. Hardwick gained recognition as the voice of Dale Gribble in the animated series King of the Hill, where he also served as a staff writer, story editor, and producer. Throughout his career, he received three Primetime Emmy Award nominations and won an Emmy for producing King of the Hill in 1999. Prior to his success in voice acting, Hardwick worked as a bartender in live blues bars in Dallas and Austin. He also pursued stand-up comedy, performing at venues like the Dallas Improv and Caroline's Comedy Hour.
