Jon Brion (born December 11, 1963) is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, and composer. He began his career as a performer in bands such as the Excerpts, the Bats, 'Til Tuesday, and the Grays before transitioning into production and film scoring. Brion has produced music for a wide range of artists including Of Montreal, Aimee Mann, Eels, Fiona Apple, and Kanye West. His work on Aimee Mann's early solo albums helped define the alternative sound of the early 2000s. Brion has also composed scores for films such as Hard Eight, Magnolia, Punch-Drunk Love, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and Synecdoche, New York. He released his debut solo album, Meaningless, in 2001.
