Jon Root Biography
Jonathan Edward 'Jon' Root is an American former volleyball player. He is best known for his achievements as a member of the United States men's national volleyball team. Root was a key player on the team that won the gold medal at the 1987 Pan American Games and the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. He also had a successful college career, playing for Stanford University where he was a three-time AVCA All-American. In recognition of his accomplishments, Root was inducted into the Stanford Athletics Hall of Fame in 2002. Today, he is involved in coaching and has been associated with the Red Rock Volleyball Club in Redwood City, California.
