    Jonathan Alexander (born October 2, 1967) is an American rhetorician and memoirist. He is Chancellor's Professor at the University of California, Irvine, holding positions in English, Informatics, Education, and Gender & Sexuality Studies. Alexander's research focuses on the intersections of digital culture, sexuality, and composition studies. He received his BA in English and an MA and PhD in Comparative Literature from Louisiana State University. Apart from his academic career, Alexander is an accomplished essayist, known for his work in cultural journalism and memoir. He has contributed extensively to the Los Angeles Review of Books and is regarded as one of our finest essayists by Tom Lutz, the founding editor of the publication.
