Jonathan Maxwell Silver (1949–1997) was an entrepreneur from Bradford, Yorkshire, England. Born of German Jewish descent, he attended Bradford Grammar School where he discovered his interest in art and design. After meeting David Hockney, they collaborated on the school magazine cover. Silver pursued his passion for art and textiles, studying at Leeds University. With his entrepreneurial skills, he established a successful chain of 13 menswear shops, a clothing factory named Noble Crest, and a shop called Art and Furniture in Manchester. In 1979, he sold his Jonathan Silver chain to the John Michael group, focusing on the restoration of Salts Mill as a cultural, retail, and commercial center. Silver's contributions have left a lasting impact in the region.
