Josef Casimir Hofmann (originally Józef Kazimierz Hofmann; January 20, 1876 – February 16, 1957) was a Polish-American pianist, composer, music teacher, and inventor. Born in Podgórze, Austro-Hungarian Galicia (present-day Poland), Hofmann came from a musical family. His father, Kazimierz Hofmann, was a composer, conductor, and pianist, while his mother, Matylda Pindelska, was a singer. Hofmann received a thorough musical education and quickly gained recognition as a talented pianist. He went on to have a successful international career, performing in concerts and touring extensively. In addition to his performances, Hofmann also composed his own music and taught at several prestigious institutions. He is remembered for his virtuosic piano playing and contributions to the music world.
