Juan Blanco
Juan Blanco (June 29, 1919 – November 5, 2008) was a Cuban composer known for his pioneering work in electroacoustics, spatial music, and multimedia. Born in Mariel, Cuba, Blanco studied at the Municipal Conservatory of Havana under José Ardévol. In the 1950s, he composed nationalistic pieces such as 'Triptico Coral', 'Cantata de la paz', 'Elegía', and 'Divertimento'. In 1961, Blanco became the first Cuban composer to create an electroacoustic piece titled 'Musica Para Danza', using an oscillator and tape recorders. He later worked as a music advisor for the Department of Propaganda of ICAP, creating electroacoustic music for their audiovisual materials. Blanco eventually established an Electroacoustic Studio and served as its Director.
