Judith Anderson

Judith Anderson, born Dame Frances Margaret Anderson in 1897, was an Australian actress known for her successful career in stage, film, and television. She was considered one of the greatest classical stage actors of the 20th century. Anderson won two Emmy Awards, a Tony Award, and was nominated for a Grammy Award and an Academy Award. Born in Adelaide, South Australia, she was the youngest of four children. Anderson attended Norwood, a private school, but her education ended before graduation. She made her professional debut in 1915 at the Theatre Royal, Sydney, under the name Francee Anderson. Throughout her career, she worked with notable actors and directors, cementing her reputation as a talented and versatile performer.
