    Julie Hanna (born August 5, 1965) is an Egyptian-born technologist, entrepreneur, investor, and board director. She is known for her roles as Executive Chair of the Board of Kiva, a peer-to-peer lending and crowdfunding pioneer, and as Special Advisor to X (formerly Google X), Alphabet's Moonshot Factory. Hanna has served as a Venture Partner at Obvious Ventures and is a former board member of the Esalen Institute and Mozilla Corporation. With a background in computer science, she is a founding executive of five Silicon Valley technology companies. In 2015, President Barack Obama appointed Hanna as Presidential Ambassador for Global Entrepreneurship to foster the development of future entrepreneurs. Hanna's personal journey began when she and her family escaped the Jordanian civil war during Black September in 1970, eventually settling in America and pursuing her studies in computer science at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
