    Juno Dawson, formerly known as James Dawson, is a British author of young adult fiction and non-fiction. Born on June 10, 1981, at Bradford Royal Infirmary in West Yorkshire, Dawson was assigned male at birth. She grew up in Bingley and attended Bingley Grammar School. After completing her education at Bangor University, she worked as a primary school teacher and later became a PSHE co-ordinator. While teaching, Dawson started writing young adult books and achieved enough success to pursue writing full-time. Some of her notable works include 'This Book Is Gay', 'Mind Your Head', 'Margot & Me', 'The Gender Games', 'Clean' and 'Meat Market'. Dawson's books often feature LGBT characters, and she advocates for greater representation in literature. In 2014, she received the Queen of Teen award. In 2015, Dawson came out as a transgender woman.
