Kai Scott

Kai Niambi Scott is an American attorney and judge. Born in 1970, she currently serves as a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Prior to her current role, Scott was a judge on the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas from 2015 to 2023. She graduated from Hampton University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1991 and obtained her Juris Doctor from the West Virginia University College of Law in 1995. Throughout her career, she has served as a law clerk for the Pennsylvania Bureau of Workers Compensation, a trial attorney for the Defender Association of Philadelphia, and an assistant federal public defender. In 2010, she became the trial unit chief for the Federal Community Defender Office in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
