Kate Forbes

Kate Elizabeth Forbes is a Scottish politician and a member of the Scottish National Party (SNP). Born in Dingwall, Scotland in 1990, Forbes was raised in India and Scotland. She attended a Scottish Gaelic school, becoming fluent in the language. Forbes earned a BA degree in history from Selwyn College, Cambridge, and an MSc in diaspora and migration history from the University of Edinburgh. She started her political career as a researcher for SNP MSP Dave Thompson before being elected to the Scottish Parliament in the 2016 elections. Forbes quickly rose within the SNP and was appointed as the Minister for Public Finance, Planning, and Economy in 2020.
