Keith Cox
Keith Gordon Cox (25 April 1933 – 27 August 1998) was a British geologist and academic known for his expertise in flood basalts. Born in Birmingham, England, Cox attended King Edward's School, Birmingham, and Leeds Grammar School before completing national service in the Royal Engineers. He then pursued his studies at The Queen's College, Oxford, where he earned a first-class degree in geology in 1956. Cox lost an eye in a field trip accident in the Lake District in 1955. He conducted further research at the University of Leeds before becoming a lecturer in petrology at Edinburgh University. In 1972, Cox joined the University of Oxford as a lecturer in geology and became a fellow of Jesus College, Oxford in 1973. He made significant contributions to the field of geology throughout his career.
