Keith Syers
Keith Syers (1939 – 16 July 2011) was an Anglo-New Zealand academic and academic administrator. He obtained his PhD from Durham University and worked with T.W. Walker at Lincoln University before joining the University of Wisconsin–Madison. In 1972, he became the head of the Soil Science department at Massey University. Syers focused on nutrient cycling in farmland and made significant contributions to the understanding of soil and fertilizer phosphorus use. He later moved to Newcastle University in 1985. Syers published extensively on topics such as the sustainable management of vertisols and nutrient management for sustainable crop production in Asia. He passed away on 16 July 2011.
