Ken Palmer Biography
Ken Palmer is an English former cricketer and umpire. Born on 22 April 1937 in Winchester, Hampshire, Palmer played as a right-handed middle-order batsman and fast-medium bowler for Somerset between 1955 and 1969. He achieved the double of 1,000 runs and 100 wickets in his best season in 1961. Palmer played in one Test match in 1965, called up due to injuries to other bowlers. After his playing career, he became an umpire in 1972 and went on to umpire 22 Tests and 23 One Day Internationals from 1977 to 2001. His brother, Roy Palmer, and son, Gary Palmer, also had successful cricket careers.
