Kenneth Tynan
Kenneth Tynan (2 April 1927 – 26 July 1980) was an English theatre critic and writer. He gained recognition for his work as a critic at The Observer, where he praised John Osborne's Look Back in Anger (1956) and supported emerging British theatrical talent. Tynan served as the literary manager for the National Theatre Company starting in 1963. Known for his opposition to theatre censorship, Tynan is believed to have been the first person to say the word 'fuck' on British television during a live broadcast in 1965. He later settled in California and continued his writing career. Tynan was born in Birmingham, England, and had a stammer since childhood, which he overcame to become an articulate and intelligent individual.
