Kevin Saunders

Kevin Saunders (born December 8, 1955) is an American Paralympian, author, public speaker, and athlete. He was the first person from Kansas to make the Paralympic Team USA and also the first Kansan to medal at the 1988 Paralympic Games in Seoul, South Korea. Saunders holds the distinction of being the first person with a disability appointed to the President's Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition, serving two consecutive terms under different administrations. Growing up on a farm in north central Kansas, Saunders developed a passion for sports and excelled in football, basketball, track, and baseball. He attended college on athletic scholarships, later transferring to Kansas State University.
