Kevin Scannell is an American professor of mathematics and computer science at Saint Louis University. He specializes in developing online computing resources for small, minority, or under-resourced languages, with a focus on Irish and other Celtic languages. Scannell has created various linguistic tools such as an Irish thesaurus, grammar checker, and spell checker, as well as dictionaries and translation engines for Irish, Scottish, and Manx Gaelics. He is also a member of the team responsible for localizing platforms like Gmail, Twitter, and WhatsApp into Irish. In addition, Scannell founded Indigenous Tweets to promote social media usage in indigenous and minority languages.
