Kim Jung-woo is a former South Korean footballer who was born on May 9, 1982. He played for the military team Sangju Sangmu Phoenix during his compulsory military service and participated in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Kim gained attention for his low salary of ₩0.95 million per year during his military service, compared to high-earning players like Lionel Messi. In January 2012, he moved to Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors on a three-year deal and became the highest-paid player in the K League. Kim also represented South Korea in the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics and played in the 2007 AFC Asian Cup. He played a crucial role as a holding midfielder in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
