Kristen Welker
Kristen Welker (born July 1, 1976) is an American television journalist known for her work with NBC News. Currently serving as a White House correspondent based in Washington, D.C., Welker previously co-anchored the Saturday edition of Today, called Weekend Today, alongside Peter Alexander from 2020 to 2023. She made history on September 17, 2023, by taking over as the host of Meet the Press, the longest-running program in television history. Welker was born to Harvey and Julie Welker and is of mixed race, with her father being white and her mother being black. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in American history from Harvard College, graduating magna cum laude in 1998. Welker began her career by interning for Today in 1997 while studying at Harvard. She has since worked for ABC affiliates in Rhode Island and California before joining NBC in 2005 at the Philadelphia affiliate WCAU.
