Kyle Pierce
Kyle Pierce is an associate professor of kinesiology and health science at Louisiana State University in Shreveport. He is also the director of the LSUS United States Weightlifting Development Center. Prior to his academic career, Pierce was a former weightlifter and his expertise in kinesiology is often applied to sports and athletic performance, particularly in Olympic weightlifting. In recognition of his contributions, Pierce was honored with the United States Olympic Committee's Doc Counsilman Science Award in 2005. This prestigious award is given to coaches who conduct research, develop innovative training methods, and utilize scientific knowledge in their coaching. Pierce received the award in June 2006 at the Night of Champions Reception during the United States Olympic Assembly in La Jolla, California.
