Larry Ramos
Hilario D. 'Larry' Ramos Jr. (April 19, 1942 – April 30, 2014) was an American guitarist, banjo player, and vocalist, best known for his work with the 1960s pop band the Association. He was the first Asian American to win a Grammy Award in 1963 with the New Christy Minstrels. Ramos, of Filipino, Chinese, and Spanish descent, was born in Waimea, Kauai County, Hawaii. He learned to play the ukulele at the age of four and won a local music contest at five. At seven, Ramos performed on The Arthur Godfrey Show after winning a statewide ukulele contest. Throughout his career, he made significant contributions to the music industry as a talented musician and singer.
