Laura Ashe is a British historian specializing in English medieval literature, history, and culture from the period of 1000 to 1550. Currently, she serves as a Fellow of Worcester College, Oxford, and lectures in English. Ashe completed her education at Leeds Girls' High School, an independent institution. Recognized for her impactful research, Ashe was honored with the prestigious Philip Leverhulme Prize in 2009. She has also made notable contributions to the field through her appearances on various BBC programs, including BBC Radio 3's A Cultural History of the Plague and BBC Radio 4's In Our Time. Ashe's expertise extends to her participation as an expert panelist discussing topics such as The 12th Century Renaissance, Beowulf, Chivalry Le Morte d'Arthur, Purgatory, Thomas Becket, and Gawain and the Green Knight. In 2022, she contributed to the BBC Two TV series Art that Made Us, offering an alternate history of Britain through art and literature.
