Lauren Klein is an American academic and associate professor at Emory University, where she serves as the director of the Digital Humanities Lab. She is renowned for her expertise in digital humanities and her co-authorship of the book Data Feminism alongside Catherine D'Ignazio. Klein earned her Ph.D. in English and American Studies from the Graduate Center, CUNY, and holds degrees in comparative literature and computer science from Harvard University. Prior to her academic career, she worked as a software developer and bike messenger. Klein has made significant contributions to the field, including founding the Digital Humanities Lab at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she taught in the Computational Media program and spearheaded the Shape of History project, shedding light on Elizabeth Palmer Peabody's forgotten data visualization scheme.
