Lawrence Tanter (born October 11, 1949) is an American public address announcer, best known for his work with the Los Angeles Lakers of the NBA. Born in Chicago, Tanter played basketball in high school and later earned a basketball scholarship at the University of Dubuque. Alongside his love for basketball, he also played the saxophone and clarinet. Tanter began his career in radio, working at various stations before joining KJLH in Los Angeles during the 1970s. He became the Lakers' public address announcer in the 1981-82 season and has held the role ever since. Tanter has witnessed the team's success and has become the longest-serving Lakers PA announcer in history.
