Les Stroud is a Canadian survival expert, filmmaker, and musician born on October 20, 1961. He gained fame as the creator, writer, producer, director, cameraman, and host of the television series Survivorman. Stroud was appointed Chief Scout by Scouts Canada on November 22, 2021. Prior to his success in the entertainment industry, he worked behind the scenes in the music industry before transitioning to become a full-time wilderness guide, survival instructor, and musician in Huntsville, Ontario. Stroud has produced survival-themed programming for networks such as The Outdoor Life Network, The Discovery Channel, The Science Channel, and YTV. Many people credit Stroud's television programs for teaching them essential survival skills that helped them endure challenging wilderness situations. Born in Toronto's Mimico neighborhood, Stroud graduated from Mimico High School and completed the Music Industry Arts program at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario.
