Leslie Morris Biography
Leslie Tom Morris (October 10, 1904 – November 13, 1964) was a Welsh-Canadian politician, journalist, and longtime member of the Communist Party of Canada. Born in Somerset, England, Morris immigrated to Canada with his family in 1910. He later returned to the UK and worked in the steel, coal mining, and railway industries. In 1921, Morris joined the Communist Party of Canada and became a prominent figure within the party. He served as the secretary of the Young Communist League of Canada and held editorial positions in various Communist newspapers. Morris was the leader of the Ontario Labor-Progressive Party in the 1940s and served as the general secretary of the Communist Party of Canada from 1962 until his death in 1964.
