Leslie Murphy Biography
Leslie A. Murphy was a Northern Irish goalkeeper who played in the English Football League for Leeds City, Wrexham, Bristol Rovers, and Reading. He began his career at Belfast Celtic in the 1910–11 season before moving to Leeds City. After a season at Leeds, Murphy joined Irish club Glentoran and won the Irish League. He then had a brief spell at Linfield before signing with Wrexham in 1920. However, he lost his first-team spot due to contracting rheumatic fever. In 1922, Murphy moved to Bristol Rovers and later retired at Reading. During his time with Glentoran, he represented the League of Ireland twice in 1912.
