    Lincoln Davenport Chafee is an American politician who has served in various roles throughout his career. Born on March 26, 1953, Chafee was the mayor of Warwick, Rhode Island from 1993 to 1999. He then went on to become a United States Senator from 1999 to 2007 and served as the 74th Governor of Rhode Island from 2011 to 2015. Chafee has been associated with different political parties, starting as a Republican until September 2007, then becoming an independent, and finally joining the Democratic Party from 2013 to 2019. In June 2019, he became a registered Libertarian. Chafee's political lineage includes his father, John Chafee, who was a prominent Republican politician in Rhode Island.
