Luciano Pavarotti (12 October 1935 – 6 September 2007) was an Italian operatic tenor and one of the most acclaimed tenors of all time. He gained worldwide fame for his exceptional tone, earning him the nickname 'King of the High Cs.' Pavarotti made numerous recordings of complete operas and individual arias, and his performances in bel canto operas, pre-Aida Verdi roles, and Puccini works like La bohème, Tosca, Turandot, and Madama Butterfly were particularly renowned. He was also known as one of the Three Tenors, famous for their televised concerts and media appearances. With over 100 million records sold, Pavarotti's first Three Tenors recording became the best-selling classical album of all time.
