Machel Montano

Machel Jesus Montano, born on November 24, 1974, is a Trinidadian soca recording artist and record producer. He is known for his high energy and fast-paced on-stage performances, making him one of the most popular artists in the genre. Montano is the frontman of the soca band The HD Family and has been active in the industry for over 30 years. In 1987, he became the youngest finalist to win the Caribbean Song Festival. He has achieved great success in New York City, selling out concerts in Madison Square Garden multiple times. Montano has also won the international Soca Monarch title six times. He was born in Carenage, Trinidad, and later moved to Siparia. Montano attended Siparia Boys R.C. and Presentation College.
