Madeleine Dean Cunnane (born June 6, 1959) is an American lawyer and politician currently serving as the U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania's 4th congressional district. Prior to her career in Congress, Dean was a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania General Assembly, representing the 153rd district in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Dean was born in Glenside, Pennsylvania, and is the youngest of seven children. She graduated magna cum laude from La Salle University, earned her Juris Doctor from Widener University Delaware Law School, and studied politics and public service at the Fels Institute of Government at the University of Pennsylvania. Dean practiced law with the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers and served as executive director before entering politics.
