Major Elliott Garrett (born August 24, 1962) is an American journalist and chief Washington correspondent for CBS News. He is also the host of The Takeout podcast. Garrett has an extensive background in political reporting, having covered the 2004 and 2008 presidential elections, as well as the War on Terror. Prior to his role at CBS, he served as the senior White House correspondent for Fox News. Garrett began his career as a congressional correspondent for U.S. News & World Report and The Washington Times. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Journalism and a Bachelor of Science in political science in 1984.
