Marc Bouwer

Marc Bouwer is a renowned fashion designer and costume designer based in New York City. He gained recognition after winning the South African Vogue Young Designers Award, which led him to relocate to New York. Bouwer's exceptional talent caught the attention of designer Halston, and he began apprenticing with him to further refine his design skills, particularly in draping. Known for his innovative use of stretch fabrics like jersey and spandex, Bouwer's designs have been described as 'athletic glamour' and 'bathing suit gowns.' In 1990, Bouwer and his business partner Paul Margolin established Marc Bouwer Couture. His exquisite creations have graced the covers and pages of prestigious publications including Harper's Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Vanity Fair, Glamour, and InStyle. Bouwer's work has also made a splash on the red carpet, with actress Angelina Jolie stunning in a white satin Marc Bouwer gown at the 2004 Academy Awards, which was later hailed as one of the best Oscar dresses of all time by fashion critic André Leon Talley.
